LEVEL 2 AWARD IN UNDERSTANDING STEWARDING AT SPECTATOR EVENTS (2021)

The Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectators or AUSSE as its become known, is an entry level qualification that provides learners with knowledge in stewarding and spectator safety. This qualification is especially useful for those people who wish to volunteer at events.

This qualification meets the requirements of the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds V6 4.10b “stewards should not be deployed unaccompanied until they have satisfied all of the following criteria”:

They have undertaken familiarisation and induction training specific to the venue and type of event.
They have undertaken training to provide the underpinning knowledge for the core units in the relevant National Occupational Standards.
They have attended four events at a sports ground partnered by a qualified, experienced steward. These events will form part of their training and learning programme.

Stewards are expected to have achieved a full Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety within 12 months of starting their training.

COURSE UNITS

Mandatory Units:

Know how to prepare for spectator events
Know how to assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at events.
Know how to help manage and resolve conflicts
Know how to deal with incidents at spectator events
Know how to support the work of your team and organisation
ACT Counter Terrorism

ASSESSMENT

The total qualification time for this qualification is 110 hours, of which 36 are recommended as guided learning hours. This is generally delivered online, but can be delivered for organisation at their premises if required.

Learners are required to complete a workbook to achieve this qualification.
